Short Story sale: "Racing Lights"

My story "Racing Lights" will be featured in the Apex anthology, "Close Encounters of the Urban Kind"; edited by the ever-so-talented Jennifer Brozek, due out ~ April 2010.

I won't drop any spoilers about the story itself, but I'll briefly outline the theme of the anthology, or (more accurately) provide a link so you can check it out: CEotUK

Though I've written scifi before, it's a new publishing genre for me--science fiction short story--so don't expect any swordplay. That said, it's going to rock. Two words: drag racing. [:)]

Drag racing, huh? Sounds like something I can get Shawn to read!!!

(Anonymous): Urban Kind

I read the press release. Are you considered one of the "established" or one of "emerging" authors?

Good question!

Established! . . . at least in my own mind. :)

Hey, congratulations! I know a number of writers who submitted to that anthology (myself included) and I was wondering who got in. :) Glad to hear you're among them!

Am I to take it you did or did not get in? It'd like to share some TOC space with you someday. :)

I figure anthologies are just one of those "luck of the draw" things, to some extent. It's just about submitting something the editor wants to read, and you really have little way of knowing what the editor wants. All one can really do is write a story one believes in.

Alas, mine didn't make the final cut -- it didn't really gel with the ones she did pick, and I understand how putting together an anthology is all about the composition! :)

It would be awesome to share TOC space with you someday. :)
